Walking like Egyptians

Cultural units are my favorite! For this one, you can best believe we played the Bangles and learned some Egyptian dance moves.  I also answered the door wearing Cleopatra's hair. :)

We learned about art things, too, like mixing with analogous colors, creating space using fore/middle/backgrounds, symmetry in faces, and we talked a bit about hieroglyphics and mummies.

Drawing from Life

My super talented firsties studied plants, shells, and pinecones up close for these oil pastel drawings.  They had a choice of warm or cool colors, then they used watercolor in the opposite color scheme.
